Purpose

This topic explains how you run SQL scripts within Timemaster.

SELECT scripts are used to obtain information out of Timemaster. As such, there are harmless to the data. However, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE SQL scripts are very powerful so they should only be used with guidance from the Timemaster Support Team.

Incorrect use of these could corrupt your data and cause software instability!!!

Operation

Note: This can only be run via the Windows Interface.

To run a script navigate to System Administration > Execute SQL Script.

If you are running a script file:-

1.Save the file and make a mental note as to where you have saved it.

2.Click the browse button in the top right corner of the Execute SQL Script window.

3.Select the file using Windows explorer.

4.Click the 'Go' button.

If you are running a script in text format:-

1.Copy the script text and paste it into the second (larger) white box.

2.Click the 'Go' button

If your script is a 'SELECT' script (used to extract data out of Timemaster) the results of the script will appear in Results tab page. These can then be exported into Excel by clicking the 'Excel' button in the bottom left corner.

If your script is an INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE script you will receive a message in the Messages tab page highlighting how many records have been affected by the script.
